NEWSLETTER???
QUESTION TO ALL

Each time the Township sends out a newsletter it costs in the neighborhood of $450.00 plus the time to separate the local from the out of town property owners plus the mailing labels that are used.

What is the opinion of the Township Citizens to only having the newsletter put on-line on the Township Web Site. If anyone requests we could mail copies to individuals.

What are your thoughts? Contact the Township at germanytwp@comcast.net or call at 717-359-7537 or write to P.O. Box 121.

OLD TIRES

Have any you want to get rid of? The county is collecting tires on May 30 (Sat.) between 8AM and 1PM at 670 Old Harrisburg Rd. in Gettysburg. You must pre-register and pay One Dollar per tire before May 20. For more information call 717-337-9827. No commercial tires accepted.

YARD WASTE (NO GRASS CLIPPINGS)

Tree limbs and brush will be picked up if placed on the side of your road between 6/01/09 and 6/05/09. Call 717-359-5885 to arrange for the pick-up. No pick-ups after those dates.

BUILDING PERMITS--POOLS

Installation of any pool that is constructed to allow for water depth of 24 inches or more requires a Permit from the Township. This requirement also includes indoor and outdoor spas and hot tubs that can be filled to a depth of 24 inches or more. Pools constructed after 6/14/04 Need to be inspected, have a 48" high fence and an electrical inspection if applicable. If in doubt call the township secretary at 717-359-7537.

Check out the Township web site at www.germanytownship.org. Lots of valuable information about the Township including the Monocacy River and Subdivision Ordinances.

WELL OWNERS

Well (ha! No pun intended) that covers about 99.9% of the Township residents - if you are interested in having your well water tested the County will do so for a fee of $20.00. The laboratory picks up samples from the County the first Wednesday of each month and you MUST use a container supplied by the County - Call 717-334-0636.

ELECTION REMINDER

The Primary election will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 and the General election will be on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. The polling place for both elections for Germany Township residents is at the Eagles Park on Mengus Mill Rd. in the same building where Supervisors meetings are held.

Burning - - - the ALTERNATIVE Every Saturday morning at the "Dollar Store" parking lot in Littlestown the Adams County Rescue Mission collects glass, metal cans, cardboard, newspapers and plastic. Everyone is strongly urged to take advantage of this opportunity. Keep the smoke from burn barrels at a minimum, do not burn items that are illegal to burn, which means any recyclable item and at the same time help to improve air quality and the environment. When planning an "open burning" FIRST call 717-334-8101 to let County Control know of your plans.
